*Child Life Specialist*This position will be a 4-day rotating10-hour shift position which includes every 3rd weekend. It will include floating to various areas of the Hospital and Clinic, NICU services, coverage inpatient between 3:00-6:30 pm and covering all consults in the hospital on the weekend worked.Marshfield Childrens Hospital is Central Wisconsin's only dedicated pediatric hospital and one of only four in Wisconsin. Our 24-bed pediatrics unit is designed with young patients in mind with themed special places designed to support the whole family. Marshfield Childrens offers a diverse team of primary care providers, as well as more than 40 pediatric specialties, providing every kind of care for every kind of kid. We offer the region's only pediatric oncology inpatient unit. Our expertise includes rare childhood tumors, histiocytosis, bone/brain tumors and clotting conditions.The Child Life Specialist helps children and teenagers cope with their health care experiences. The Child Life Specialist will offer support to the individual in the hospital/clinic by preparing them and providing support and distraction during medical procedures. The Child Life Specialist serves as an advocate to the child or teenager and their family members assisting with questions and helping them to understand what is happening at a developmentally appropriate level. The Child Life Specialist will utilize appropriate therapeutic play to relieve stress and teach coping mechanisms to help children and teenagers cope with illnesses and injuries.
