Criminal Investigation Tech Operations and Investment Services
The following are the duties of this position at the full working
level.
- Managing a large and complex network including: conducting
cost-benefit analyses and total cost of ownership and capacity
studies; establishing routing schema; establishing security
practices; developing contingency and recovery plans; maintaining
directory services; managing domain name services; providing
intranet, Internet, or extranet gateways; and coordinating other
actions to ensure the implementation of networks that support
mission requirements.
- Leading the implementation of major projects such as: upgrading
from hubs to switches; consolidating regional networks; and
redesigning network infrastructure in response to changes in
network technologies or network requirements.
- Developing contingency plans to ensure continuous availability
and accessibility of network resources in the event of
emergencies.
- Managing the design of network architectures, including:
evaluating and defining infrastructure requirements; selecting
hardware and software components; assembling installation teams;
coordinating network implementation planning; and overseeing
testing and implementation. Requirements Conditions of Employment

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of
this announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-13 LEVEL: You must have one year of
specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility
equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience that
demonstrates accomplishment of computer project assignments that
required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and
techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. This knowledge
is generally demonstrated through assignments that required the
ability to analyze a number of alternative approaches in the
process of advising management concerning major aspects of IT
system design. This would include defining what system
interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode,
system software, and/or equipment configuration is most appropriate
for a given project.
In addition to the above, your specialized experience should
demonstrate knowledge of computer requirements and techniques in
carrying out project assignments consisting of several related
tasks, such as in the case of development of modifications to parts
of a system on the basis of detailed specifications provided.
Experience must have been in an IT field or work where the primary
concern was the subject matter of the IT application. This
experience must be sufficient to demonstrate the ability to work
with clients and customers to assess and/or address their needs,
communicate effectively both orally and in writing, identify and
resolve problems, determine relevant information, demonstrate using
sound judgment, and make decisions and/or recommendations relevant
to this level of expertise. Experience serving as a local area
network (LAN) manager with enterprise-wide LAN systems; Identifying
and controlling all LAN hardware and software configuration;
Developing technical standards and procedures for LAN development,
implementation, and management; Establishing performance management
metrics; Evaluating overall LAN performance against relevant
standards; and Providing technical advice and consultation to LAN
administrators throughout the agency. Experience in monitoring,
installing and troubleshooting Cisco network devices connected to
wide, metropolitan, and local area networks; Experience needed
troubleshooting Data, Video, Wireless devices and Remote Access;
and Experience with project management of an enterprise wide
information technology initiative.

- Tour of Duty: Day Shift - Start and stop times between 6:00am
and 6:00pm.
- Alternative work schedule, staggered work hours or telework may
