Job Summary:
 
This is a fabrication technician position working as part of a team in the La Crosse Engineering Laboratory. It is primarily a first-shift position, but work hours and shifts can vary based on assigned project schedules.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions.
  • Use basic measuring/inspection instruments.
  • Fabricate a wide variety of parts from raw materials to close tolerances.
  • Operate manual and computer-controlled machines and other fabrication equipment.
  • Continuously learn to cross train on new processes and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Work safely and maintain a clean, safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives in assigned department.
  • Less than 5% travel required.
Qualifications:
  • Technical diploma in Welding or Fabrication , or AAS degree or journeyman status.
  • CAD and/or CAM experience required. 
Key Competencies:
  • Good mechanical aptitude. Comfortable with hand tools, power tools, and tools common to the Fabrication industry.
  • Must have knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing techniques.
  • Computer skills; i.e., working in a Windows environment with MS Office products.
  • CNC Machine programming ability and documented experience.
  • Ability to be licensed for material handling devices.
  • Willing to learn and grow technically.
  • Be self-starting and able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and through written and electronic media.
  • Must be able to flex work hours, work overtime, and accommodate shift changes.
  • Must work well in a group environment to complete tasks. 
  • Must manage your work load in a timely matter.
