Job Description Registered Nurse (RN) Clinic - Preadmissions DepartmentPreadmission Contact LocationLa Crosse Schedule/ShiftDays FTE0.6 FTE Benefit EligibleYes Temporary PositionNo Job Details Preadmissions RN - 0.6 FTE Preadmission RNs provide pre-procedural and pre-surgical patient education to patients from various departments, including but not limited to general surgery, gynecology, interventional radiology and urology. The hours for this position include 8 and 10 hour shifts. A typical schedule consists of one 8-hour shift and four 10-hour shifts in a two week period. Hours are between 8am and 6:30 pm Monday through Friday. RNs in Preadmissions spend approximately half of their worktime performing telephonic assessments and education. They also see patients for in-person pre-operative visits. The registered nurse (RN) focuses on the health and wellness of individuals, families and populations in collaboration with other health care professionals by incorporating evidence-based practice in the management of acute illness, chronic disease, disability, and end-of-life care. The RN utilizes the nursing process and aligns practice with organizational policies, professional nursing standards and regulatory practice acts. Job Responsibilities - Assessment: Systematically and holistically assesses the patient's physiological, emotional, sociocultural, spiritual, and financial status while considering lifestyle preferences and learning needs. - Planning: Collaborates with patients, families, and health care professionals to develop a patient-centered plan of care to promote health and optimize wellness. - Intervention: Provides competent and innovative patient care and education based on patient complexity, acuity, and nursing judgment within a culture of caring and safety. - Documentation: Documents nursing assessment, planning, interventions, implementation, and patient/family response. - Evaluation: Determines patient's progress toward achieving goal(s), and revises plan of care in collaboration with patient/family as needed. - Delegation and Supervision: The RN delegates, supervises, and evaluates the effectiveness of tasks performed by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) or Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) who have the knowledge and skill to perform the task taking into consideration the following: - scope of practice - training - competence - population served - experience - policies and procedures - Leadership: Guides, directs and influences others by participating in activities such as: - quality improvement, evidence-based practice and research - shared governance (council structure) - department-based projects - continual learning - Professional and Organizational Responsibilities: Accepts accountability, elicits feedback, clarifies issues and concerns and works toward resolving problems or conflicts. Position Qualifications Education and Experience: RequiredAssociate degree in Nursing from an accredited college of nursing, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Bachelor's degree in Nursing, from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program, is required within six years of hire date. Graduates from nursing programs which are not accredited by ACEN or CCNE, must have at least one year of recent RN experience from an applicable care setting. DesiredBachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college of nursing, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
