The Speech Therapist position assesses and treats speech, language,
and swallowing disorders. This role helps individuals enhance their
ability to communicate and swallow safely. Essential job duties
include performing direct patient care and assessing speech,
language, and swallowing disorders. The therapist completes patient
documentation, including initial evaluations, plans of care,
progress reports, and discharge reports. Insurance companies are
contacted regarding benefits. Preparation for evaluation and
treatment sessions is required. Education is provided to staff
regarding results and recommendations following evaluations. The
therapist gives guidance based on the most up-to-date research.
In-service presentations and educational opportunities for staff
are created. Collaboration with healthcare providers is necessary
to provide patient-centered treatment. Cleaning treatment rooms
following sessions is part of the responsibilities. Reminder calls
to patients are made to ensure attendance. Assistance is provided
to patients and families in navigating hospital services. Other
