Position description
The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire additional
Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to
join our regional practice in SWWI. The SWWI Region includes ERs in
La Crosse and Sparta. Our current need is in the La Crosse WI
Emergency Medicine department. These positions provide the
opportunity to join and further develop high quality health care
delivery teams with commitment to practice, education and research.
The EDs have an annual volume of 27,800 visits/year in La Crosse.
NP PAs coverage 12 hour shifts alongside an EM physician colleague
in La Crosse.
The NP PA serves as an independent provider, collaborates with the
physician and works with a variety of other healthcare
professionals. The NP PA will provide comprehensive assessment,
diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests,
prescription of pharmacological agents, and patient education. The
NP PA will also perform a variety of procedures including
laceration repair, I&D, and lumbar puncture, etc. Our practice
is unique in that we start with an onboarding process that assesses
your skillset in order to provide the proper training that's
tailored specifically to you. Mayo Clinic values the skills and

Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner: Masters prepared graduate of an accredited
school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Wisconsin
RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP.
OR
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant
program with current PA certification by NCCPA and licensed as a PA
by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
An unrestricted prescriptive authority in Wisconsin, (Wisconsin
Medical Examiners Board and DEA). BLS, ACLS (CALS and PALS or ATLS)
certifications are preferred by the time of starting the position
and are required by completion of orientation.
Emergency Medicine Fellowship, or 2 years of Emergency Medicine
experience is strongly preferred.
License or certification
The Physician Assistant must be board-eligible or board-certified
by the NCCPA at the time of employment. A temporary or current
Physician Assistant license or appropriate license/registration for
the state in which they are working is required. Registration with
the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is required. Current BLS
certification. Certain specialty positions may require additional
advanced certification (ACLS, ATLS, etc.)
