Job Summary :
The Trane Manufacturing Manager is responsible for all aspects of
production in their area of responsibility. This includes safety,
quality, productivity, on-time delivery of product along with many
other aspects related to managing a team. This is a position that
can be extremely demanding at times, but also allows the individual
to learn and be involved with all aspects of the business.
Responsibilities:
Safety, manufacturing quality, on-time shipping, production
management, manufacturing budgets, labor relations, operations
personnel training and development effectiveness. Communicate
business unit and product operations goals, objectives, priorities
and progress to employees and staff. Plan production manpower,
allocate resources and gain the necessary resource support from
outside the operations product group. Monitor performance versus
plan and take necessary action to meet the plan. Manage the
assigned factory that operates 24/7.
Qualifications:
-- Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate's degree + relative years
of experience required in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
-- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations
required.
-- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience; cross-functional
work experience required.
-- Must have in-depth understanding of Lean Manufacturing and
commitment to operate in a Lean mode of operation.
-- Understanding of the product design and manufacturing processes
in the assigned factory unit. This includes machining, welding,
fabrication and/or testing.
Key Competencies:
-- Must be able to manage effectively in an organized labor
manufacturing environment with a good understanding of the labor
agreement.
-- Ability to manage and develop direct reports.
-- Financial management skills/knowledge required.
-- Must be familiar with quality systems.
-- Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
required.
-- PC literacy and strong technical aptitude required.
-- Ability to work with people at all levels and strong leadership,
interpersonal and team building skills required.
-- Must enjoy working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work
environment.
-- Ability to learn on the fly (technical and financial) and must
be able to effectively communicate concepts and decisions.
-- Make timely decisions and maintain accountability for such
decisions.
-- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
