Job DescriptionPosition SummaryUnder the direction of the Chief
Executive Officer and the functional direction of the Board of
Directors this position is responsible for management, supervision,
and direction of all business banking, commercial loan, and
non-loan activities. Duties include representing the bank
internally and externally in developing and monitoring client and
prospect relationships, actively participating in the origination
and structuring of client's transactions. Develops annual strategic
operating plan to meet or exceed company expectations. Lead and
manage business development efforts in growing the Bank's market
share in La Crosse, Sparta, and Marshfield markets. Responsible for
ensuring maximum overall profitability and credit quality related
to commercial lending activities and assists in the detection of
deterioration in loan quality. Lead, review and ensure all
department compliance, audit, policy, and regulatory objectives are
met.Essential Job Functions
- Directly supervises a team of Commercial Relationship Managers,
Relationship Coordinators, and Treasury Management employees.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities
include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning,
assigning, and directing work; appraisal performance; rewarding and
corrective action; addressing complaints and resolving
problems.
- Actively leads/participates in business development activities
for the purpose of attracting additional profitable relationships
for the bank. Responsible for a smaller portfolio of high-profile
clients or those with a personal relationship.
- Responsible for preparing and implementing a 1-3 year strategic
plan for the Business Banking group. Coinciding with this includes
responsibility for preparing annual budget recommendations for the
department aligning with the strategic plan.
- Develop and maintain an environment where staff can find
motivation in their work through effective communication and
incentives. This position mentors and coaches' other colleagues in
their day-to-day work functions, as well as assisting colleagues in
long term career development.
- Responsible for helping maintain a system of quality financial
analysis and control for all loans made as required by the policy
approved by the Board of Directors; ratings assigned as needed in
conjunction with the loan loss reserve analysis.
- Assist the commercial relationship managers in the analysis of
all large loans, large aggregate lending to one borrower, complex
loans, and workout loans.
- Identifies problem loans, makes recommendation for assignment
of loans to the "watch loan list"; discusses the status of problem
loans with the CEO and/or the Chief Credit Officer and commercial
relationship officers and makes recommendations regarding the
servicing strategy. Identifies loans meeting non-accrual or
charge-off criteria.
- Prepares appropriate monthly/quarterly/annual Board of Director
reports.
- Prepares periodic studies of various portions of the commercial
loan portfolio including past due reports, concentrations of
credit, etc. for the benefit of supervisory and executive
officers.
- Based on compliance or loan reviews and the dissemination of
other pertinent materials evaluate and recommend policy or
procedure changes.Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve on Bank executive committees as needed. Voting member of
Officer's Loan Committee.
- Assist direct reports in establishing goals for their areas and
implementation of same as necessary.
- Updates knowledge and develops professionally on a continuing
basis. Participates in internal and external training and
development opportunities as required.
- Assist in the development of manuals and supporting
documentation to accomplish tasks/duties inherent in this
position.
- Other job-related duties may be necessary to carry out the
responsibilities of this position. Equipment UsedOperates personal
computer in a Windows environment for word processing,
spreadsheets, e-mail, internet/intranet and other bank specific
software. Utilizes a variety of office equipment including:
computer printer, ten-key calculator, fax machine, copy machine,
and multi-line telephone. Working Conditions Work is performed
largely in an office environment, during normal business hours.
Regular contact with associates and customers. Regular out-of-town
and overnight business travel (air or auto) is required for
business and education. Deadline pressure is an integral part of
the job. Regular mental and visual concentration for computer usage
and reading/assimilating complex and technical compliance
information is required. Position will alternate between walking,
sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and occasional lifting up to
15 pounds of office supplies and/or documents throughout work
shift. Hours of work are generally during regular business hours
and average at least 45 hours a week. There will be some variation
in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, community events,
and other concerns. Deadline pressure is an integral part of the

Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in business, finance, plus additional
lending and compliance related training.
- Attainment of this position may be contingent upon up to ten
years bank lending, loan review and/or compliance experience or
equivalent education in bank lending, loan review/compliance
procedures and policies.
- Satisfactory credit report and background check.
- Must possess courteous and professional customer service
attitude.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability
and statistical inference, high level of analytical and
organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Requires the ability to practically apply knowledge in policy
and procedure development.
- Ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential
customer and Bank information.
- Ability to deal effectively with time pressures and
stress.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
