Job Description:

Project Manager Division: Lock and Dam Job Status: Full Time Reports to: Director-Lock and Dam -- Description Plans, monitors, and supervises on-site construction activities for a project, maintaining liaison with Division Manager and client regarding project progress and changes. Insures project management and operational activities comply with company and client requirements, providing interpretation of design and application of construction methods. This position requires travelling and a high probability of being stationed on the current jobsite. Duties and Responsibilities Project Administration Contracts Working knowledge of contract details Working knowledge of subcontracts with trade contractors. Prepare work scopes and organize cost structure Scheduling Prepare, monitor and update Master schedule Prepare two-week rolling schedule Document delays to project Quality Control Maintain QC systems implemented by J.F. Brennan, USACE, etc Prepare and Conduct Preparatory and Initial Phase meetings as a means for QC Understand, Resolve, and Document QC Activities Change Orders Identify and formalize changes to the contract Distribute change documents to all affected parties, issue and expedite requests for quotations to subcontractors and vendors and review quotes for fairness and accuracy. Prepare J.F. Brennan's contract modification proposals iv. Assemble and submit complete, accurate change request in accordance with contract requirements. Expedite approval of change orders. Assemble and notify all parties of approved change orders in accordance with owner contract requirements Weekly Construction meetings Prepare agenda and documents for distribution such as schedules and logs, take and distribute minutes at meetings, Subcontractor meetings, Staff meetings and other meetings. Assist Superintendent and Division Manager in the implementation of J.F. Brennan policies and the execution of the project. Organize the duties of other engineers and other assigned project staff, provide direction, prioritization, performance feedback and coordination to ensure all job duties and project requirements are fulfilled. Claims Work with Superintendent to identify and resolve all Project claims such as; Subcontractors claims for extras, insurance losses, personal injuries, etc. Financial Reporting Keep all cost, commitment and projection information current in the company job costing system Preparing monthly progress reports by incorporating all new subcontract amounts, material purchases costs to date and change orders Prepare owner billing by assembling J.F. Brennan costs, receiving and reviewing subcontractor invoices and organizing the documents in accordance with the owner's requirements. Document Control Prepare and monitor project cost reports Prepare and monitor equipment and material coding logs Update contract record drawings Monitor testing and inspection record and reports Maintain submittal log Monitor safety inspection and accident logs and reports Maintain request for information log and post responses on record drawings Distribute new drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses and other project information to all affected parties. Learn to utilize the USACE QCS module Procurement Act as Purchasing Agent Schedule and expedite material and equipment purchases and delivery Identify and expedite long lead subcontract items Schedule, prepare and expedite submittals of shop drawings, samples and supplier data for timely approval Schedule and coordinate subcontractor work. Technical Detailing Prepare General Contractor Shop Drawings under direction of Superintendent for use by J.F. Brennan crews or subcontractors Participate in job layout. Verify dimensions and features that affect work Review all subcontractor and vendor shop drawings, product data, samples, manuals, etc. for all compliance with contract documents and coordination with all other work Seek and study problems, conflicts, incomplete or ambiguous design information and any other questions/issues presented by subcontractors, vendors, designers, J.F. Brennan crews and staff or others. Resolve all promptly including, when necessary, interfacing with designers, engineers or the Owner. Distribute to all affected parties Personal Skills Ability to work effectively with others Professionalism in dealing with Owners, Subcontractors, Consultants, Trades people and coworkers Maintain excellent verbal and written communication skills Motivation to continually learn and take on added responsibilities. Demonstrate effective judgment in responding to a problem in a manner consistent with the company's primary interest Demonstrate effective planning by looking ahead and organizing activities to stay on top of the projects needs Demonstrate initiative by seeking out new opportunities to contribute. Take ownership by demonstrated commitment to the success of the project, teammates and the company. Qualifications and Skills Require B.S. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field Prefer P.E. designation or interest and ability to obtain Prefer 5-10 years of working experience within the construction field, heavy civil, railroads, bridges or marine. Demonstrated leadership ability, problem solving skills and organizational skills Demonstrated understanding of project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement, value engineering and estimating) Demonstrated ability to read and understand specifications and drawings Working knowledge of construction costs and principals High proficiency in MS Excel and Word along with scheduling and project management software (i.e. Primavera P6, MS Project, etc) Fluency with AutoCAD Prefer experience with USACE QCS module Familiarity with Inventor a plus Familiarity with HCSS HeavyJob and HeavyBid J.F.
