Position Summary Western Technical College is a preferred employer in the 7 Rivers Region. Summary of Position: Plan and develop support programs for underserved students by coordinating and collaborating with multiple campus and community partners to create a safe and supportive campus for all learners. Collaborate with community-based learning activities to strengthen students' cultural competence. Provide leadership for campus efforts to address a wide range of student issues and serve as a catalyst for change to enhance coalition building and pluralism with regards to the student body and community. This position collaborates with the Director for the continued development of a diverse student body. Essential Functions 1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required. 2. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department. 3. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success 4. Student Coaching/Mentoring - Supporting Actions May Include: Coach student groups and classes to make the most of their experiential learning activities developing cultural competence, practicing mutuality, and critical self-reflection Provide support and case management as needed to students in Non-traditional Occupations and/or underserved populations Serve as an advocate for first generation, multicultural, international, LGBT, women, and other underrepresented students Develop and administer an equity and inclusion student ambassador group to provide student feedback and improve campus climate. Responsible for program development, budget management and fund development, student recruitment, selection, onboarding and training 5. Coordination and Collaboration - Supporting Actions May Include: Using data-informed and evidence-based practices, coordinate interventions, programs, and activities in collaboration with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders designed to retain underrepresented students and help them reach success Develop and deliver professional development opportunities for employees to learn more about equity and inclusion issues and strategies to help their students overcome barriers to success Research trends and explore best practices for equity, inclusion, service-learning and experiential learning to further student success Serve as a catalyst for change to enhance coalition building and cultural inclusiveness Serve as a campus subject matter expert in regard to student development and equity and inclusion practices Develop strong collaborative relationships within the college and in the greater La Crosse area in the service of academic and career success for students from underserved populations 6. Administrative - Supporting Actions May Include: Collaborate with the Financial Literacy Coordinator to distribute grant funding to qualified students Monitor grant budgets Manage data tracking requirements for grant projects and assist Resource Development in the development of grant reports and applications Assist with and coordinate regular assessment and evaluation Qualifications Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Communications, Sociology, Social Work or related field OR Associate Degree combined with appropriate occupational experience in related field totaling 3.5 yrs (7,000 hrs) OR Occupational experience in related field totaling 3.5 yrs (7,000 hrs) Minimum Experience Requirements: 3 years in related field preferred Knowledge of student development and capability to build and maintain relationships preferred Special Instructions/About Western This position reports to: Director of Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement Starting annual salary range based on education and experience: $46,537-$59,400 This position would include competitive salary, excellent benefits including medical, dental, WRS, Employee Wellness Programs and more.
